Marathon, walkathon mark seer's 108th birthday

More than 300 students took part in a 4.2 km marathon (Road run) organised by Path Finder, an organisation of students, to mark 108th birthday of Siddaganga Math seer Shivakumara Swami on Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT) campus in the town on Sunday.

Hundreds of citizens also participated in a walkathon. The organisers had arranged water and glucose for the participants at four places.

The students and citizens visited the centenarian seer at the Math after the competition. The seer distributed the citation and prizes to the winners.

The following are the winners: Marathon (Women’s category) - Sanjana Monappa (First), Shobha Biradar (Second) and Sphoorthi (Third); Marathon (Men’s category) - Pulkit Kumar ( First), Animesh ( Second) and D S Bharath (Third); Women’s walkathon -  Gulshir (First) and Chandrakala (Second) and men’s walkathon - T A Naresh Babu (First) and Kiran Koyli (Second).
