Free health check-up camp for policemen held

In a free health check-up camp organised by Regal Hospital in the City on Sunday, over 500 police personnel were screened for various ailments including hypertension, diabetes among others.

Dr Suri Raju, the Chief Executive Officer of Regal Hospital, said that many police personnel were found to be suffering from various ailments during the health camp.

Of the 500 plus police personnel who underwent the health check up, nearly 30 per cent of them are suffering from hypertension, 25 per cent of police personnel were found to be diabetic while 20 per cent were diagnosed with gastritis.

Stress factor

About 20 per cent of police personnel had ailments like kidney stone, vision problem, dental probe among others and another 5 per cent of subjects were found to be suffering from ENT ailments, Dr Suri Raju revealed.

“Police are required to deal with numerous stress-inducing situations, including scenes of death and dismemberment, argumentative traffic violators, aggressive subjects, and miserable, upset, angry or depressed individuals. They are more likely to suffer from numerous health complications,” Dr Suri Raju explained.
