Who doesn’t like to go on a vacation? Crystal clear blue skies, warm sun rays, bright and colourful days — it is summer and time to pack one’s bags and take a breather. Mountains, beaches and valleys...there are plenty of destinations, both home and abroad, that call for an exploration. With the college examinations coming to an end, the youngsters talk about the places on their bucket list and why they would like to these places.

Ready to say Aloha!

Rukhaiya Banu, a graduate from Baldwin Women’s Methodist College, wants to take a vacation to Hawaii, which is known for its beaches and emerald green waters. She says, “This place also has a lot of natural wonders — from volcanoes to seaside lava beds. I love the ocean, and this is the perfect spot to spend the bright days with spectacular surfs and fishing.”

The Alpine view

Zunera Banu, a second-year PU student of Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College, wishes to visit Switzerland and says, “Switzerland has glorious lakes and mountains. A serene destination, it is the perfect place to spend the hot summers in a cool manner. As a lover of nature, I want to visit this place at least once in this lifetime and fill my heart with its beauty.”

Perfect getaway

Mohammed Qamaruddin Amir, an MBA student of St Joseph’s College of Business Administration, is hopeful of visiting Maldives and Sri Lanka during summer. He says, “These two places are perfect getaways from the hustle and bustle of the crowded cities. Beaches, adventures and scenic beauty...I would love to experience scuba diving, surfing and many other adventurous sports. Hoping for some enlightening spiritual experiences, I also look forward to tasting the exotic seafood here in these islands.”

When coast calls...

Sadia Naaz, a first year BCom student of Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College, has the mystical place Mauritius on her bucket list. She says, “The thought of the place itself gives me peace and calmness. I want to visit the clear beaches and swim and soak in the sun. I would also like to indulge myself in some good seafood; my favourites being fish and prawns.”

Glory of castles

Syed Zakiulla, a PU student of St Joseph’s PU College, wants to visit New Zealand and Scotland. He says, “The weather in both these places is blissful. As an adventure lover, I would like to experience action-packed activities such as cave abseiling, hand-gliding and skydiving in New Zealand. A culturally-rich country, Scotland has famous castles and cathedrals with a rich history and offer a stunning view.”
