Minister under fire for inaugurating beer bar

Maharashtra  Minister of State for Home Ram Shinde has come under fire for inaugurating a beer bar in Ahmednagar — the home district of veteran Gandhian and anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare.

Hazare has transformed the Ralegan Siddhi village into an ideal village where drinking, sale and stocking  of liquor is not allowed.

There is a strong demand from the people of several villages in Ahmednagar district to make the district an alcohol-free region. On Saturday, Shinde in the presence of Minister of State for Finance Deepak Kesarkar, inaugurated the beer bar named Kirti at the Supa Naka on the Ahmednagar-Pune road.

Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said that it “is unfortunate” that a minister of the government inaugurated a beer bar.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik also said that though there was nothing illegal, the ministers should have avoided it.
