Expressing satisfaction over the Karnataka High Court acquitting her in a disproportionate asset case, AIADMK chief J Jayalalitha on Monday said the verdict has wiped off the malicious charges levelled against her.

“I am immensely satisfied with the verdict given by the Karnataka High Court. It has erased the malicious charges levelled against me,” she said.

Stating that the verdict has removed the charges framed against her by her political adversaries, she said the judgment also confirmed that she has not committed any wrongdoing.

“It is not an individual victory but a victory for the people of Tamil Nadu. This is a boon given by the God for the prayers offered by the people of Tamil Nadu who have love and affection for me,”Jayalalitha said.

Claiming that the case was a conspiracy by the Opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) to destroy her party, Jayalalitha said the court’s judgement proved that justice would always prevail in the end.

Thanking the party cadre and the people of the state, who prayed for her acquittal, she said it was painful to note that unable to bear the trial court verdict, a total of 237 AIADMK workers had committed suicide. “Had they shown little patience and tolerance, they could have also joined the celebrations today,” Jayalalitha said.
