Ahead of BBMP elections, Zameer meets Gowda

The demolition drive taken up by the Congress-led government and the upcoming BBMP polls have forced the Opposition JD(S) to resolve the differences within the party.

On Monday, disgruntled Chamrajpet MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan and Pulakeshinagar MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy met with party supremo H D Deve Gowda. It is learnt that JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy himself facilitated the meet and he too was present in the meeting. Gowda also met another disgruntled leader N Chaluvarayaswamy from Nagamangala.

Though Chaluvarayaswamy and H C Balakrishna were being seen in party meetings, Khan and Srinivas Murthy had distanced themselves from the party.

In a bid to take political advantage of the demolition drive taken up by the government, the JD(S) leaders have decided to visit all the areas where people have been affected.
However, with both Khan and Srinivas Murthy, not seeing eye to eye with Kumaraswamy, the latter tried to pacify the duo and asked them to be part of the tour. When he failed to win their confidence, he arranged a meeting with his father.

In the two-hour meeting, Gowda is said to have told the two that the Opposition parties would take advantage of the differences between the City MLAs, which would hamper the BBMP poll prospects.

He also gave them an assurance that they will be taken into confidence during crucial decision making process of the party. Khan on his part told Gowda that he would remain loyal to the party and ensure that it would come back to power.

The JD(S) leaders including Khan and Srinivas Murthy along with Kumaraswamy will visit Banaswadi, Puttenahalli, Sarakki, Jaraganahalli and Ittamadu on Tuesday and interact with those who have lost their properties.
