Volvo India unveils XC90 in India

 Swedish car maker Volvo India, which unviled on Tuesday its new model XC90,  is bullish about the latest offering aiming a sales target of 350-400 units in this year.


Interacting with Deccan Herald, Volvo Auto India Managing Director Tomas Ernberg said, “The deliveries for the XC90 will begin in September and we are hopeful of selling around 350-400 units by December 2015.”

The car has received over 30,000 bookings so far globally and deliveries have started last week in some countries, Ernberg added. Volvo is planning to produce around 55,000 units of XC90 this year and 90,000 next year.

The new XC90 will be available in India in D5 Inscription and Momentum trims, 2-litre 4-cylinder, automatic 8-speed AWD with 225 HP and a 470 Nm torque.

While the Inscription has been priced at Rs 77.9 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai without octroi), the Momentum has been priced at Rs 64.9 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai without octroi).

The XC90 can be pre-ordered starting May 12 and deliveries will commence in September 2015. When asked about the company's plans for Make in India, Ernberg said that the company is considering that option. The company currently has 14 showrooms and plans to increase that to around 22 by December-end.
