Speaking to presspersons during his visit to Tarikere, he said “we have appealed to the Chief Minister to appoint 2,000 doctors.” “There is severe shortage of doctors in the State. Even if we assure to pay Rs 50,000 per month, none of them are ready to come and work in government hospitals,” he lamented.

He said “doctors salary has been increased. To solve the problem of shortage of doctors, we will bring an amendment to C and R rules and 815 doctors will be appointed through KPSC. The appointed doctors should compulsorily serve in rural areas.”

He said government is planning to constitute Suvarna Trust to bring in a revolution in the health sector.

“Arogya Kavacha ‘108’ is  successful in the State. Government is also planning to start ‘104’ mini mobile hospital for the benefit of the rural people. As many as 409 new ambulances will be given to the hospitals in the State,” he added.

Sriramulu said that he has directed the contractor to complete the work on the construction of 100 bedded hospital by March. The hospital is being built under KHSDP project in Tarikere. The remaining Rs 1.6 crore for the construction of the hospital will be released at the earliest, he added.

Regularise the service

As soon as the Minister visited the Government Hospital, the nurses working in the hospital on contract basis surrounded him and urged to regularise their service.
They said that they have been working on contract basis for the last 10 years for a meagre salary of Rs 4,000. The health department is showing step motherly attitude towards us.

Minister in turn assured to take a decision in the Cabinet after a discussion.
