Two pillion riders, including a woman, died in separate road accidents in Mico Layout and Banaswadi police limits on Wednesday.

A 24-year-old employee in a mobile phone service company died after the bike in which he was travelling rammed a median at 5th cross BTM Layout.

Sandeep, 24, a resident of Venkatapura, is the dead. He was riding pillion with his colleague Ravi on his bike. Around 10.45 am, they were on their way to work when Ravi lost control of the vehicle and hit the median.

The bike dragged on for a few metres and hit another two-wheeler coming in the opposite direction. Sandeep, who sustained severe head injuries, died on the spot while Ravi suffered bruises. Devaraj, who was coming in the opposite direction in a two-wheeler, too suffered minor injuries.

In another accident, a cement mixer lorry rammed a two-wheeler in which a family of four was travelling on the Outer Ring Road near Nagawara. Anila, 27, who was riding pillion in the bike, was killed in the accident.

The police said Srinivas, an employee in a dairy and a resident of Cox Town, was on his way to Chikkaballapur to attend a festival along with his wife Anila and children Janardhan and Chandana.

Around 12:30 pm near the Outer Ring Road, the speeding cement mixer lorry rear-ended their bike. All the four fell down and the lorry ran over Anila, killing her on the spot. The rest of them escaped with minor injuries.

The passersby rushed them to a nearby hospital where Anila was declared brought dead. The doctors have informed the police that Srinivas and his children are out of danger. The lorry driver fled the spot after abandoning the vehicle.
