I don't hanker after awards, says Someshwar

“I am not the one who goes after award. I have wholeheartedly accepted awards from various organisations who have considered my contributions to Kannada literary world. I am not a great person to receive award in the literary field. I want to continue to contribute to the literary world in the future,” senior folklore expert and litterateur Prof Amruth Someshwar said.

He was speaking after accepting Kannada Sahitya Parishath Shathamana Prashasthi and Halasangi Geleyara Prathishtana Prashasthi at his residence “Olume” in Someshwara on Thursday.

He said literary field gives prominence to relationship. The programme was inaugurated by Narmada Amruth Someshwar.

Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K Byrappa said in the era of technology, youth are not showing keen interest in art, literature and culture. There is need to create awareness on preachings of senior experts to youth.

The works of Amruth Someshwar should be translated to other languages, so that it gets recognition from the entire world.

The VC said S V Parameshwara Bhatta Institute of Kannada Studies at the university can organise a series of lectures on the works of Someshwar. 

Prof S V Parameshwara Bhatta Institute of Kannada Studies Professor K Chinnappa Gowda said Someshwar has done an yeomen contribution to the Tulu folk literary world.

DK ZP Vice President Sathish Kumpala, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President Ronald S Castellino, Karnataka Beary Academy President B A Mohammed Haneef, Kannada Sahitya Parishath district Unit President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and others were present.
