Litmus test on a different turf for Khader

Last Updated 19 May 2015, 18:49 IST

Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader appeared for the Karnataka State Open University MA in Public Administration exam in the City on Wednesday.

The minister, who is qualified with a BA, LLB, wrote a paper on “Modern Governance” at Osteen College at Chamarajpet, between 2 pm and 5 pm. He was seated with other candidates who had registered for the exam.

“The paper was easy. I did not have much time to study. However, I put in my best efforts for the last three days,” he said.

The minister’s hall ticket, however, had spelt his name in a different way. Known as U T Khader in the political field, his hall ticket mentioned  his name as Abdul Quadir Ali.

The minister said that his name was spelt so in his school records and had hence been retained that way.

“My school leaving certificate and marks card have the same name. However, my government ID cards say “U T Khader,” he said.

The minister who wrote his exam in English, is unlikely to take up the upcoming exams on May 27 and 28, as he will be concentrating on the Gram Panchayat elections, according to sources close to him.
