Parents protest glitches in online display of PUC results

A day after the announcement of PU results, several parents staged a protest against the Department of Pre University Education (DPUE) for glitches in the online display of results, here on Tuesday.

Parents complained that several websites displayed different results for the same candidate.

Apart from the official website of the department, the results can be accessed on several other private websites too. The DPUE has authorised at least ten such websites to publish results. That apart, students could avail their results through SMS services too. Parents said the results displayed on several websites differed a lot.

For instance, a student, who had not cleared the II PUC exam in the PCMB stream, was left in a state of extreme stress and confusion, as one website showed that she had passed while another said she had failed. She and her mother, along with several other parents and candidates assembled at the DPUE office on Tuesday, questioning the officials on the lack of accountability of these websites.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Anusuya, mother of one of the candidate's said, “It is not just the total marks but all the details differ. The subjects and the marks scored are also different in each website. But the register number remains the same.” They stated their complaint in a written letter to the department. The DPUE officials said they would verify the complaint and initiate action against such errant websites.
