Congress leader CP Joshi on Wednesday blamed the Narendra Modi government of working for corporate sector and ignoring the common man by reducing the allocation for social sector to the tune of Rs 1.76 lakh crore.

“Modi talks of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’…I think it should read ‘Corporate ka saath, aur unkaa vikas’. The biggest cut in outlay by the Modi government was to the tune of Rs 1,03,000 crore in food security. The Central government has also reduced outlay for Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana to the tune of Rs 7,400 crore,” Joshi said at a press conference here.

He said the Modi government has been able to save over Rs 80,000 crore by way of reduced global crude prices in last one year but not a penny has been transferred to schemes for benefit of poor in the country.

He also claimed that there has been cut in schemes for the schedule caste and schedule tribes by Rs 13,208 crore, with allocation for schemes benefiting tribal people down by Rs 7,700 crore.
