TN ministers on thanksgiving spree

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and a horde of ministers and AIADMK workers are now working overtime giving thanks to a variety of deities for the Karnataka High Court verdict which favoured AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha.

Jayalalitha’s staunch loyalist Panneerselvam, who was under attack from the opposition over poor governance during the period she had to step down from chief ministership, heaved a sigh of relief soon after his party high command announced a meet of the party legislators for Friday, a conclave which is expected to pave the way for Jayalalitha’s return.

Panneerselvam, on what some see as perhaps his penultimate day as chief minister, pulled a golden chariot at the  “Lord Aiyappa” temple in Chennai with a couple of his Cabinet colleauges as a part of a thanksgiving programme. Other ministers in the AIADMK government are now giving thanks to the gods by conducting thanksgiving programme at various temples, churches and mosques.

Meanwhile, there is strong speculation that Jayalalithaa would assume office as chief minister on May 23.
