Valuables worth Rs 6 lakh looted from house

Dacoits strike in Rajarajeshwarinagar

A gang of six-seven masked men barged into a house and made away with valuables and cash after threatening the residents near Jain College in Rajarajeshwarinagar in the early hours of Saturday. 

According to police, around 2 am, six to seven dacoits gained entry into the house of Rajagopal, a carpenter, by breaking open the lock of the back door.  They overpowered Rajagopal, his son Sriram and locked them in a room. The gang members later threatened Sriram’s mother and wife who were sleeping in another room, by flashing a knife. Even as both the women shouted for help, the intruders threatened to slit their throats if they continued to scream. The dacoits decamped with 304 grams of gold valuables and Rs 6,000 in cash kept in the cupboard - all valued at Rs six lakh.

The police said that the gang fled the spot locking the door of the house from outside. Sriram’s wife managed open the lock from the other room and Sriram immediately called up the control room. The jurisdictional police rushed to the spot along with fingerprint experts and a dog squad.

A senior police officer said, “These miscreants have committed the crime after noticing that there are no houses around and there is not much movement of people or vehicles, as it is located in an isolated area. The complainant said that the miscreants had covered their faces with hand kerchiefs.” Rajarajeshwarinagar police have registered a case.

Woman assaultedFour men barged into a house and snatched a gold chain from a woman at Akshaynagar in Hulimavu on Friday. 

According to police, at around 8.10 pm, the victim Pallavi was walking back home along with her son. 

As she reached her house and opened the door, four persons came from behind and went inside along with her, and locked the door. 

They and beat her up, snatched a gold chain and a mobile phone from her before fleeing the spot.  She informed her husband, who rushed to the house and alerted the police.

The police, quoting the victim, said that all the men were in the age group of 22 to 25 years. The police are looking for CCTV footage from nearby buildings to identify the miscreants.Hulivamu police have registered a case.
