Walking down the rough terrain

Shooting for the just-released ‘Mrugashira’ was indeed a one-of-a-kind experience for actor Prajwal Devaraj. The film was shot in the dense forests near Kundapur and Prajwal says that though they were scary in some ways, the shooting was an adventure worth cherishing once he overcame the fear factor.

He shot for 29 days in the forest. “It was a different experience shooting in the forests. The story is about a close community of Brahmins, who have their own practices and lifestyle. They don’t let anybody enter their confines and don’t mix with the ordinary people. The subject is thrilling and the climax is all about when someone tries to shake up their rather staunch structure,” he notes.
Prajwal plays the role of a college-goer who also happens to be a technology freak. His parents are filthy rich but they don’t part with their money. Instead, they buy him an auto to drive to college! Why an auto? “In the film, the auto is the first vehicle my parents bought with their savings. So they want me to work my way up and earn for myself,” reasons Prajwal. The story begins when Prajwal loses his way and accidently happens to drive through the forest. “The story is largely about unravelling a murder mystery.

It has humour, romance and action — all in the right blend. There are also funny moments during my communication with the heroine who is a tribal girl. She understands nothing but tribal language. I use interesting methods to get my message across to her,” says Prajwal.

He also has ‘Arjuna’ lined up for release in which he plays a negative role opposite his father Devaraj who essays a ruthless cop in the film. “Working with my father was a different experience altogether. I was both excited and nervous. The first look of the film has come out really well,” he states. Prajwal points out that the director has experimented with both the characters and the storyline.

He will also be seen acting in a full-fledged comedy, in which he’s all set to play a small-time thief. “I’ve changed my look for this film and appear unkempt during most of the shoot. We’ve also played around with my skin tone and made it appear dark. I am as good as a thief can get,” he signs off.
