Bike-borne men gun down woman outside her home in broad daylight

A 45-year-old woman was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne assailants in outer Delhi’s Samaypur Badli on Monday.

Her daughters suspect she was attacked by their father who stays separately.
The deceased has been identified as Narayani Devi.

Police said she was attacked while she was sweeping outside her home in Samaypur Badli’s Yadav Nagar.

An eyewitness told police that two persons came there on a motorcycle and the pillion rider opened fire at Narayani.

They managed to flee without being identified.

“Narayani sustained a gunshot wound in the shoulder and was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital,” said a police officer.

She succumbed to her injuries in a few hours.Narayani lived with her younger daughter Preeti. Her elder daughter Kiran is married.

“Preeti was at home when the attack took place. She along with their neighbours had taken Narayani to a hospital,” the officer added.

Police have recorded the statements of Preeti and Kiran.  They told police that Narayani and her husband Lal Singh were not on good terms.

“Currently, Narayani and Lal were involved in a property dispute. Both had been claiming ownership of the house in Yadav Nagar,” the officer said.

A case of murder has been filed with Samaypur Badli police station.

Husband questioned
On the basis of the allegations, Lal was also called for questioning by police on Monday afternoon. He was staying at a rented house nearby. He denied involvement in the attack when police interrogated him. Police have also seized his mobile phone to analyse the call data records.
