Even though Karnataka registered the highest ever pass percentage in the SSLC exam this year, a number of students who appeared for the exam are having doubts about the marks that they have been given.

The Karnataka Secondary Education and Examination Board (KSEEB) has received around 10,000 applications for photocopies of answer scripts and as many as 343 applications for retotaling.

Officials from the Board however are of the opinion that these numbers are nothing new. Speaking with Deccan Herald, KSEEB Secretary, Manjunath H said: “Since May 12 when the results were declared, we have received as many as 10,000 applications for photocopies. Many of these applications have request for photocopies of around two to three subjects. The valuation this year has been extremely good and we are not expecting any major changes in the marks.”

The last date for applying for photocopies and for retotaling was May 22. A student can apply for revaluation within seven days of receiving the photocopies of answer scripts.
With regard to the applications for retotalling, Manjunath said that 343 applications have already been cleared. “There are hardly any differences in the marks. There might be a difference of say one or two marks but nothing more.”

Last year, there were a large number of errors in the valuation of answer scripts as highlighted in a story published in Deccan Herald on July 18, 2014. Out of the total of 5,075 SSLC answer scripts that had been revaluated, errors were found in as many as 4,803 scripts.
