GP reservation list soon: Siddaramaiah

The reservation list for the posts of president and vice-president of Gram Panchayats will be announced soon, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said here on Friday ahead of his visit to Siddarmanhundi, where he cast his vote for the GP election.

He said political parties had no role to play in the GP election. “However, I am hopeful that Congress workers will win a majority of the seats in the election,” he said.

He denied that the pending dispute between the State government and the Wadiyars prevented him from attending the ‘coronation’ ceremony at the Amba Vilas Palace. On the remarks made by Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad that the government was ready to hold talks with the Wadiyars to sort out the dispute, Siddaramaiah said he was not aware of the context in which the minister made the statement. “A case regarding the issue is pending with the Supreme Court,” he said.

On the fee hike for engineering courses, the chief minister said there had been repeated requests from private colleges to increase the fees for the last three to four years. So, the fees were increased marginally, he said.

On the Cabinet expansion, he said he would announce a decision after June 6.
