Mohun Bagan’s head coach Sanjoy Sen believes that the team which posses a better mental strength and the ability to handle pressure will walk away with the I-League trophy on Sunday.

“I think the team that can handle pressure in a better way and put up a good show will walk away with the (I-League) title,” he said at the pre-match press meet here on Saturday.

“Both teams are evenly matched and there is no doubt that two of the best sides in the league are fighting for the top prize. I think in such matches its your ability to handle pressure that will do the trick.”

Mohun Bagan, one of the most decorated clubs in India, are just a point away from winning their first ever title in the I-League era and Sen knows what the title means to the club and its fans.

Sense of occasion

“Even though this is my first season with the club, I know what this occasion means for the club and its supporters. We have waited 13 long years for this moment and we don’t want this to slip.

“We will be giving our best to win and take the title back home to our supporters who have been with us through thick and thin,” added the 54-year-old.

Bagan come into the tie on the back of an impressive victory over Sporting Clube de Goa, which helped  them maintain their position on the top of the table. But, Sen stated that the teams’ performance in the past games will play no part when they take on Bengaluru FC on Sunday. “This is a different game. What we have done in the past and achieved won’t matter when we take the field tomorrow. We know the situation we are in. We need just a point, while they three. Its set up like a cup final and we hope that we win it,” he added.
