35 injured in tempo mishap

The vehicle was carrying a marriage party

A goods tempo that was ferrying people from Lakshmipura village in K R Nagar taluk to attend a wedding ceremony fell into a roadside ditch leaving more than 35 people injured, on Sunday.

Manasa, five, Radhamma, 35, Jayarama 35, Nanjegowda, 60, Kalamma, 48, Sannathayamma, 70, Vaishali, 30, Jyothi, 30, Radha, 40, Shivanna, 41 were among those severely injured, who were provided first aid at the town hospital and later shifted to Mysuru for further treatment.

Out of them seven are said to have sustained serious head injuries, while others have sustained injuries on their arms and limbs.

Those with minor injuries were treated as outpatients.

Incident

The goods tempo was carrying more than 50 people from Lakshmipura in the taluk to attend a wedding that was scheduled to be held at Sangolli Rayanna Samudaya Bhavan. A KSRTC bus that was allegedly speeding hit the tempo near Hebbal, in the taluk, resulting in the mishap. Taluk Health Officer Dr T Shivaprasad, Dr Maheshwarappa attended the injured persons.
