Over 1.8 lakh log in for DU admissions

Over 1.8 lakh applicants logged in on Delhi University’s website by Tuesday, after it went online with its pre-admission registration process.

The online admission process started on May 28 just after midnight.

“By 5 pm today, the number of applicants who had registered was 1,81,093 out of which 98,617 had made payments (online),” joint dean of students’ welfare Malay Neerav said.

Out of the 98,617 students who submitted their registration forms, 65,805 are in the
General category while 21,181 have applied under the Other Backward Classes category, Scheduled Castes (9,574), Scheduled Tribes ( 1,859), and Persons with Disabilities (209).
Lakhs in fray

Over 2.5 lakh applicants were in the fray for 54,000 seats available in 64 undergraduate colleges in the previous year.

Payments for the online forms will have be made through internet banking.

The fee for General category students is Rs 100 whereas for SC/ST students the admission form will cost Rs 50.

The last date for online registration is June 15 while offline forms will be accepted at nine registration centres from June 5 to 15.

Students can fill up the centralised optical mark recognition (OMR) forms on the university’s website du.ac.in
