Change of guard in BJP won't affect Cabinet

The core-committee of the BJP on Thursday had zeroed on Energy Minister K S Eshwarappa to take over as the next State unit president. Eshwarappa, is likely to resign from the Cabinet before taking over as party president on January 30. However, the vacancy in the Cabinet is unlikely to be filled until the presentation of budget in March, party sources said.

After the budget, the CM Yeddyurappa will be going in for a major reshuffle, sources added.
Party insiders said Eshwarappa, a political heavyweight in the BJP, as party president would also serve as a check on the decisions taken by the CM. Eshwarappa, in fact, had taken on Yeddyurappa soon after the Lok Sabha election by going public on the “dilution” of party’s policies.

The BJP central leadership, in a bid to nip dissidence, had then given its nod for the setting up of a core committee, comprising both legislators and party members.
