Amit Shah to attend BJP conventions

The BJP will hold two conventions in the State to be attended by party national president Amit Shah in the coming weeks to commemorate the completion of one year of the Modi government at the Centre.

The BJP had to postpone the celebrations to June since the model code of conduct for the Gram Panchayat elections is in place till June 7. It has already been confirmed that Shah will address a public rally on June 10 in Mysuru.

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru after a day-long meeting with party functionaries, BJP State President Pralhad Joshi said Shah will return to the State on June 23 to inaugurate a memorial for the senior leader Jagannathrao Joshi at Nargund in Gadag. Nargund in the birthplace of Jagannathrao. Shah will address a public meeting after the inauguration.

From July, the BJP will launch its outreach programme to meet the 80 lakh newly-enrolled members, Joshi said. Each of the enrolled members will be given a letter signed by Shah, a booklet providing the ideology of the party, a message by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and an acknowledgement for enrolling with the BJP. A data bank of the enrolled members will also be created, he said. The party will hold “Yoga camps” to mark the International Yoga Day on June 21.
