Bollywood film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty are brand ambassadors for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mega yoga show to be held across the country on June 21 to mark International Yoga Day.

The government has made cricketer Virat Kohli and wrestler Sushil Kumar as brand ambassadors to promote the yoga events. Many prominent TV actors will also be pitching in to the government's efforts to popularise yoga. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who led to UN endorsement of designating June 21 as International Yoga Day, will be seen performing yoga along with an estimated 35,000 people on Rajpath to mark the occasion. Some of his Ministers are also expected to join Modi here in the mega event.

According to officials of the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry, who have been on their toes to make yoga events a mega success, most of the television channels have agreed to air Modi’s yoga show free of cost.

An assurance in this regard came from television industry bodies, during a meeting of their representatives with secretaries of I&B Ministry Bimal Julka and AYUSH Nilanjan Sanyal on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of various television and cinema industry bodies including News Broadcast Association (NBA), Indian Brodacasting Foundation (IBF), CRFI, FCSR and representatives from Digital Cinema.
