Girl rescued from 'pimp' couple

On Thursday, the Parappana Agrahara police arrested Nagesh and Rekha, a live-in couple residing at Laxmi Layout in Begoor on charge of running a brothel.

According to police, in December last week the victim ran away from her house in Vishakhapatnam and got married to a man she loved. When the couple reached the man’s home, the latter’s father chased them away.

In the confusion that ensued, the man fled to escape his father’s wrath, leaving his bride. The girl decided not to return to her home and went to the railway station and sought shelter with one of her friends.

While she was waiting to board the train at Vishakapatnam railway station she bumped into Kumari.

On seeing her sitting alone and crying, Kumari comforted her, took her to Bangalore on the pretext of getting her a job and sold her to Rekha.

For the last one week, the victim was locked up, beaten and forced to entertain men. Finding herself alone she cried for help. Passersby who heard her cries alerted the police.
Dies in road crash

An employee of a private security company died in a road accident after the two-wheeler he was riding rammed into a parked truck on Kalyan Nagar Service Road on Wednesday.
Banaswadi traffic police gave the name of the deceased as Poorna Chetri (30), a native of Assam.

Buddi Subhodi, who was riding pillion is being treated at Bowring hospital. They were residents of Chalkere.

Actor killed in accident

A television serial artiste was killed on the spot when the motorbicycle he was riding on was knocked down by a BMTC bus at Jai Muni Rao circle  in Vijaynagar early Thursday morning.

Sathyanarayana (34), a former Chitra Kala Parishat student and a Magadi resident leaves his wife and a daughter.

The driver of the bus absconded, said the police. He has worked in Kannada movies like Kshana Kshana, Marma, Matha, Nammanna. Sources said, he was on his way home after finishing the days shooting of Bindas Hudugi.

Body found

A partially burnt body of a youth was found on Hoskote Main Road late Wednesday night. The Kadugodi police identified the body as that of Mari Swamy (25), a cab driver.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed stab marks on Swamy’s neck, indicating that he had been killed and the body had been burnt in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Crushed to death

Praveen Kumar (19), a first year BCom student was killed on the spot when he came under the front wheel of a truck on Bangalore-Bellary Road in front of IAF gate on Thursday morning.

The dead youth was from Kurubarapet in Devanahalli taluk and a student of Nitte institute in Bangalore.
