'Sudeep is my inspiration'

Actress Rachita Ram’s latest release, ‘Ranna’, has been getting her a lot of positive reviews about her performance, especially in the second half where she portrays a girl suffering from partial memory loss after an accident.

“There are a couple of interesting scenes in the film but the most challenging one was in the second half where I had to behave and talk every inch like a child. That was pretty tough but it brought out the best in me,” says Rachita.

She plays the lead opposite Sudeep in the film and Rachita can’t help but say that she thoroughly admires Sudeep both as a performer and as a person. “Sudeep is my inspiration and this is something that I’ve told him over and over again. A lot of people think he’s a serious person but I found him to be a fun-loving guy. We shared some excellent chemistry on screen,” she says.

The role, she says, brought out many sides of her personality. “I am a very bold and an outgoing person but to play a character just opposite to how I am in real life was interesting because I had to take that extra step to transform into someone I am not,” she says.

She recalls a scene in the film where she has to propose to Sudeep. “In our country, it’s unusual for a woman to go that extra mile and propose to a man but here the script demands that women take that bold step. I had to muster enough courage to be able to do that scene. It turned out better than I thought it would,” she observes.

Rachita has always tried to sign projects that are not repetitive and monotonous. In her debut , ‘Dil Rangeela’ she played a colourful character opposite ‘Golden Star’ Ganesh and in ‘Ambareesha’, she saw herself pitted against Darshan in yet another tough role. “Both movies have given me a great start. Now, I have to live up to people’s expectations,” she reasons.
Her next two projects are ‘Rathaarava’ and ‘Bharjari’ which Rachita says she has signed after a lot of thought. “I am not allowed to reveal my character in ‘Rathaarava’ but in ‘Bharjari’, I slip into a traditional role,” she signs off.
