A drunk Mexican national was arrested for assaulting a man in Kothanur, over a petty issue on Thursday afternoon.

According to the police, the suspect, Julian Herberto Aguirre Hernandez, 32, is a documentation translator for a private firm in the City. He came to Bengaluru three years ago.

He moved to Kothanur three months ago and rented a house on the first floor of a building owned by Asha. The landlady lives in the ground floor. Hernandez was often drunk and used filthy language. He also hurled abuses at Asha when she called him on the phone and would always create nuisance in the locality, said the police.

On Thursday afternoon too, Hernandez was drunk and was listening to music at his house. But he had turned the volume up to the maximum level causing  nuisance to his neighbours. He abused Asha who went upstairs and requested him to reduce the volume, said the police.

Somashekhar, a neighbour irked by the volume, went upstairs to talk to him. Hernandez then attacked Somashekhar with a knife.

He suffered injuries on his nose and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, said the police.

“We arrested Hernandez based on a complaint filed by Somashekhar. He has been booked under the IPC Section 342 (wrongful confinement),” said a police inspector.
