Last Updated 27 May 2009, 17:54 IST

He was speaking at the 174th Sriyoginareyana Yateendra aradhana mahostav, at Kaivara in Chintamani taluk on Wednesday and said every one should follow in the footsteps of the renouncer, mahatma and social reformer Nareyana Yateendra (also called Tataiah) who has already shown the way for a fruitful life.

By following his directions the inner turmoil will not be there and it will be completely cleansed. Once this happens then one will get salvation and enlightenment, he said.

The whole human body is a cesspool and it is full of bad qualities. Once this mental qualities are renounced, the body gains value and along with this the almighty will be pleased. Then the life will be worth living and one becomes eligible for moksha, said Jayaram expounding the keertans of Tataiah.

It is not possible to put a price on a person whose body and mind is pure. A person who does not have negative emotions like kama (desire), krodha (anger), for such a devotee even if he is given all the money in the world he will not be enamoured by it. The ignorance that only the pleasures of life are permanent should be dispelled  and instead the mind should be filled with the knowledge and understanding of the permanence of the greater force or God, he said.

Hedonistic approach

One should not be taken in by the physical attractions in life. The wealth, property are all not permanent. All this leads to suspicion, jealousy, hatred. With this kind of hedonistic approach it is not possible to reach God. The material things which we desire is something that we have to leave behind. It is definitely ignorance to believe and trust in wealth-money-family. Once this ignorance is given up and one finds the path to God, then this is what is enlightenment, he said.

Earlier, the Yateendra utsav murthy was brought from the samadhi area with lot of devotion in a procession with the playing of the musical instruments. Then a special pooja and other rituals were performed.

Thousands of people had gathered and the presence of enlightened men amidst the chanting of bhajans was a very mesmerising sight.

There was discourse on the life of Tataiah by Kaipu Lakshminarasimhaswamy.
Trust secretary N Venkateshaiah, members Srinivasalu, Krishnaiah Shetty, Narayanappa, Rajagopal and others were present.

T L Anand compered and Balakrishna Bhagavathar offered prayers. Ashram’s vice president J Vibhakra Reddy welcomed.
