'Kanteerava, not an option for U-17 WC'

The Sree Kanteerava stadium, which has emerged as a suitable to venue if the Bangalore Football Stadium is pulled out of the race, need a through renovation if it has to successfully host the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup according to Indian football team coach Stephen Constantine.

Constantine, who is conducting the national camp at the Kanteerava stadium, believes that the venue in its present form is not fit to host the showpiece event in 2017.
“If you ask me, it’s a straight no. I don’t like stadiums with running tracks. I really hate them,” said Constantine.

“It takes away the atmosphere and isolates the players from the crowd. This stadium needs a lot of work. But the best people to answer your question will be Joy (Bhattacharyja) and Javier (Ceppi) who are responsible for getting the venues in place for the tournament. And if they say it is, then it is. But at the moment it’s not,” he opined.
