Rowdy hacked to death by rival gang

Last Updated 07 June 2015, 19:29 IST

A 25-year-old youth with criminal antecedents was abducted from his house in Kaggaliapura near Kengeri and hacked to death by his rival gangsters over an old rivalry in the wee hours of Sunday.

The victim was identified as Umashankar alias Shankar, 25, a resident of Thagachaguppe. Shankar’s two associates suffered injuries in the attack. The injured Kiran and Satish are being treated at a private hospital and are stated to be out of danger, said the police.

Shankar, a milk vendor, was involved in several criminal cases. The police suspected the involvement of Kitty alias Cable Kitty in Shankar’s murder case. “There are leads about Kitty and his seven associates and we will arrest them soon,” said a police officer. Shankar, Kiran and Satish went to bed in a room in the first floor of Shankar’s house after completing dinner on Saturday night.

“I heard somebody knock on the door around 1.30 am and opened the door. Cable Kitty and seven of his associates pushed me down and barged into the room. They were brandishing sharp weapons and dragged three of us down. Later, they dumped us into a car and drove to a desolate location,” Kiran stated in the complaint.

The three were taken to a forest region and attacked with lethal weapons. They attacked Shankar on his head, face, back and abdomen as he was their primary target. They attacked Kiran and Satish when they rushed to Shankar’s rescue. They confirmed Shankar’s death and dumped the body, Satish and Kiran into the car and drove back, said the police.

They stopped the car near Shankar’s house and threw the body on the pavement and vanished. Satish and Kiran contacted their friends who rushed to the spot and shifted them to the hospital, Satish said.

Shankar was involved in an assault case and was arrested by the Kumbalgodu police. He was sent to the prison recently. He was out on bail and had continued his criminal activities. The Kumbalgodu police had prepared documents to open a rowdy-sheet in his name to curb his anti-social activities, said the police.
