Called ‘Flying Colours’, the event will see kite enthusiasts from Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bangalore competing to rule the sky.
Kites of more than 50 enchanting designs, mind-boggling sizes will take to the skies at the Palace Grounds for a good cause.
The proceeds of the festival will help in providing free education to 10,000 poor students.
The fest is organised by Junior Chamber International, a world-wide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs.
The event is organised by JCI Bangalore Garden City, which has done community development projects like the mega Jaipur foot camp, construction of science and computer lab at the Government School at Wilson Garden, construction of old age home and distribution of books to more than 1,300 students etc.
This year, they have embarked upon a mission to reach more 10,000
students in rural Bangalore. ‘Flying Colours’ is the biggest kite flying festival being organised in this City.
Journey of a lifetime
The National Geographic Channel is on a hunt for daredevils through their show Flight of the Hawks, which is a unique SUV driving adventure series.
The channel’s crew was in the City recently to audition for participants from the Southern region.
This event saw a number of people, both young and old, coming to try their luck.
The show also involves solving clues to get to destinations and using maps to find the way. All this requires a certain amount of intelligence. So there was a mental ability test prior to the physical ability test.
The physical ability test consisted of jumping in between tyres, swinging from one side to the other with a rope, climbing up a net and walking across a rope
which is tied at a height.
The participants were timed as they finished this test and the ones who finished the task in minimum time were short-listed.
Sixteen semi-finalists will be chosen from across the country, out of which, the final 12 will be shortlisted. These 12 will take part in the show in pairs.
It is a seven part series, which will cover unknown routes across Maharashtra between Lavasa and Amby Valley.
The show will see a combination of quick- thinking adventure and off-road driving, where the contestants will cover a distance of around 100 kms on tricky terrains, crack intelligent clues, take up thrilling adventure tasks like waterfall rappelling, stand up paddling, zip line between valleys and will also have to watch out for the climax at the end of each episode. The show is going to be a treat for adventure lovers. The winning team will win a fully paid adventure trip to Masai Mara in Kenya.
