Rains flood roads in M'luru, U-K

Several roads in Mangaluru were flooded after rains lashed the city on Thursday. Moderate rainfall was also recorded in Kasargod, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and Udupi.

Vehicles had to wade through the water across many roads in Managluru city due to lack of stormwater drains. In the last 24 hours, Mangaluru has received 4.7 mm rainfall, while Bantwal has received 4 mm rainfall. Udupi district recorded a low rainfall of 5.16 mm in the last 24 hours. Kundapur taluk has received 3.8 mm and Karkala has received 2.22 mm rainfall.

The areas in Kundapur that received rainfall include Koteshwara, Basrur, Byndoor, Gangolli, Shankaranarayana, Halady, Maravanthe, Chittoor, Gulwady, Ampar, Goliangadi, Belwe, Kollur, Siddapura, Thombattu, Navunda and Kirimanjeshwara. Karkala, Belman, Erlapadi, Renjala, Nadpalu, Marne, Nalloor, Sanoor, Shirlal, Varanga and Kuchchuru received moderate rainfall. The regions that received rain for the last 24 hours in Udupi include Cherkadi, Giliyara, Haluvalli, Handady, Kalthuru, Kudi, Padu, Palimara, Saligrama, Tenka, Ambalpadi and Tenkanidiyur.

Sea erosion has intensified in Malpe region. The sky remained overcast throughout the day across several districts.

In Uttara Kannada

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall that lashed Karwar and Haliyal in Uttara Kannada district on Thursday afternoon, continued till evening hours. Roads in Karwar are inundated, leading to traffic snarls, and power shutdown. Except Dandeli, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Joida, Gandeshgudi, Kaiga, Kadra, Sirsi, Siddapur, Yellapur and Mundgod have received good rainfall.
