Councillors allege land encroachment

Last Updated 22 January 2010, 16:50 IST

In a complaint submitted to the Municipal Commissioner, councillors T Srinivas, Anasuyamma and Standing Committee member Shivaiah have accused the officers of the City Municipality of fudging the documents to facilitate land grabbing. The land bearing survey number 321 and 223 are under Revenue Department and the CMC has no authority to create khata for such land. However, khata has been made for both the land unlawfully. Not only that, even the measurement has been altered from 11.5 x 19 feet to 71.5 x 79 feet in the municipal records, which could easily be made out. The CMC president too has not been evincing any interest in the affairs of the local body and the Commissioner has remained inaccessible for over a month. With no person at the helm, the municipal administration has collapsed and the public are finding it difficult to get their work done at the municipal office, the complaint said. The councillors have urged to conduct a spot inspection and steps to clear the encroachment. The complaint by the members of the ruling party has raised eye brows in the political circle.
