Chinese red sanders smuggler nabbed from Bengaluru

A Chinese national was caught by Anti-red sanders smuggling team of police at Bangalore's Koramangala IV Block and eight red sanders logs were seized from him, a police official said here today.

Talking to reporters at his office on Friday evening, Kadapa Superintendent of Police Naveen Gulati told that based on information from an inter-state red sanders smuggler named Pathan Liyakat, the police was able to make the breakthrough.

The Chinese national has been identified as named Pema Thar (26).

Liyakat, who is a resident of Katikanhalli in Hoskote taluk, was recently caught carrying 101 kg of red sanders logs in a car, during vehicle checking at Chinnamandem, the police official said, adding that three others managed to escape.

Based on information provided by Liyakat, the police managed to nab the Chinese national, involved in red sanders smuggling, the police official said.

He said that a case has been registered against Thar, who will be produced before court.
