The NH stretches will be blocked in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts.Deputy Commissioners of all the three districts have been informed in this behalf, he stated.
Convenor of the Committee B Govindraj Hegde said the bundh will not affect movement of ambulances and supply of essential commodities like milk and newspapers.
There will be blockades at six junctions on the National Highways 17, 63 and 206 in Uttara Kannada district. In Udupi district, there would be blockades on the National Highway 17 at 20 junctions.
In Dakshina Kannada district, there would be blockades on the National Highways 13, 17 and 48 at 25 junctions. Various associations and political parties are supporting the bundh in the three districts, he added. Operators of buses coming from Bangalore to the three districts have been informed about the blockade, and the buses are expected to reach their destinations before the 6 am-deadline on Saturday, he added. Lorry, Taxi Owners Association and other organisations have also extended their support to the bundh.
