Sanjeet shines as India win four medals

 Sanjeet was the solitary gold medal winner in the 76 kg freestyle category on a day when India had to be contend with a total of four medals at the 2015 Cadet Asian Wrestling tournament.

Apart from the gold, Indians won one silver and two bronze on the day.
Sanjeet pinned Iranian Hamed Manafian Darband multiple times and consolidated the lead after finishing round 1 with 3-1 scoreline. At the start of round 2, Sanjeet, within seconds, made the scoreline 6-2 and at the fag end of the match pinned the Iranian to end India's day on a high. Sanjeet won the bout 10-2.

The 17-year-old grappler from Haryana attributed his success to his coaches in his hometown Chandpur. Securing his position in the World Cadet championships, Sanjeet sounded confident of repeating his performance in future tournaments. “I would win the gold medal at the World Cadet championships too,” beamed Sanjeet.

Sanjeet's performance was all the more noteworthy as he was nursing a shoulder injury and had to play the tournament in pain. “The scoreline would have been more lopsided had I wasn't having this injury on my right shoulder, said Sanjeet.

Earlier in the day , Kiran won the silver medal in the 49 kg freestyle event after she went down to O Kyong Kyong of South Korea. In the 43 kg freestyle event, Anju won bronze medal and Sachin Rathii secured the bronze in the 69 kg freestyle.

On Thursday, India had started the tournament by winning five medals -- 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
