HC refuses to drop charges against ex-MLA

The High Court on Friday dismissed an appeal filed by the State government seeking permission to drop criminal charges against former BJP MLA, M P Renukacharya.

Renukacharya has been booked for rioting, disrupting public life and for other charges between 2004 and 2008. The then government in 2010 had decided to withdraw the cases against him and accordingly, filed an application before the trial court. The trial court rejected the application and the government had approached the High Court challenging the order.

Justice A N Venugopala Gowda upheld the order of the trial court and dismissed the appeal filed by the government.
