BJP State president Pralhad Joshi on Friday demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah drop Shivraj Tangadagi from the Cabinet and register an FIR against him in connection with a murder of a student here.

The BJP State president said that his party would launch a “sustained” campaign ‘Tangadagi hatao, Koppal jilla bachao’ to its logical conclusion.

He said this after taking out padayatra along with party leaders and workers, from Kanakagiri to slain Yellalinga's house in Kanakapur on Friday.

The BJP leaders consoled the family members of the deceased student.Yellalinga, a college student and a resident of Kanakapur in Gangavati taluk, was brutally murdered by supporters of Tangadagi, in January 2015, because he exposed the large-scale lapses in implementation of NREG works in Hulihyder Gram Panchayat under Kanakagiri Assembly constituency, represented by Tangadagi, in an interview with a Kannada news channel.Joshi pressed the government to arrest Hanumesh Nayak and others in connection with Yellalinga murder case and should drop Minor Irrigation Minister and District Minister Tangadagi  to facilitate a fair probe into the murder case. "We will fight till the case is taken to its logical conclusion. The party will raise this matter during the upcoming legislature session at Belagavi," Joshi said.

The party will launch a sustained campaign from June 15. From June 21, the members of youth wing will launch signature campaign against Tangadagi.
