As many as 256 job-seekers got their appointment letters at the Job Mela organised under the Pradhanamantri Skill Development Programme on Saturday.
A total of 60 companies participated in the mela for which 6,142 candidates had registered their names. A total number of 5,130 candidates faced the interview and 1,620 were shortlisted. Around 3,200 candidates were picked up for skill development training.
Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda who inaugurated the Mela said that job melas would be organised in all the eight Assembly constituencies in the City. He said 4,000 youth would get jobs in each of these melas while the rest would be selected for skill development training.
