115 arrested for jaywalking

The Madiwala police have arrested 115 people for jaywalking in the past two days.
According to a senior police officer, a drive against jaywalking at all the accident spots on Hosur Road.

Some of the arrested were produced before the court while notices were issued to some more askig them to appear before the court and pay fine. Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, told Deccan Herald: “The aim is to ensure pedestrians’ safety and more such drives will be carried out after identifying accident prone spots.”

The traffic police have been making announcements advising pedestrians against crossing the road by jumping the median but people continue to do so, putting not only their lives but the lives of motorists at risk. Cops also studied the accident-prone spots and made announcements for over a week, a police officer said. The drive was carried out just to discourage people from jaywalking and warn them against jumping medians. Numerous jaywalking accidents have been reported.
