BJP to observe Yoga Day

The State BJP and its affiliate organisations have planned to observe International Day of Yoga on June 21 in a big way.

A mammoth demonstration-cum- performance of yoga would be held at the National College grounds under the aegis of Rashtrothanna Parishat.

Yoga camps and brief discourses on the advantages of performing asanas would be held at various public grounds in Bengaluru.

BJP general secretary C T Ravi said the party, through its legislators and functionaries, would hold at least one big event at the assembly constituency level across the State and smaller events at the local level. “Wherever it is possible, the party will organise events on Yoga Day. Otherwise, our workers will actively participate in the events held by others,” Ravi said.

In Malleswaram, MLA C N Ashwanthnarayana said arrangements for yoga camps had been made at the Malleswaram playground, Subramanyanagar playground, Sankey Tank yoga centre, 13th Cross government school grounds (will involve special children), in front of the BJP office, among others.

Jayanagar MLA B N Vijayakumar said major yoga camps would be held at six venues in his constituency, including Shalini Grounds, Jayanagar V Block; Kittur Rani Chennamma Grounds, Jayanagar III Block; and Durgaparameshwari Grounds, J P Nagar.

Union Chemical and Fertilisers Minister Ananth Kumar will be in the City attending yoga camps in his Bengaluru South constituency, while his Cabinet colleague D V Sadananda Gowda has been deputed by the party to be in Thiruvanthapuram, Kerala, to participate in yoga events.
