Known to have vitamins, minerals, trace elements and fibre, green leaves of vegetables and herbs are highly nourishing and soothing for the body. Taking them regularly helps to maintain good health and vigour. Did you know that the tops of root vegetables like carrot and beetroot make for a nourishing soup? Lead a long healthy life with the leafy relishes and be your own herbal practitioner.

Brahmi: It has rejuvenating properties and is considered to be a brain tonic that helps improve memory. It can be made into a chutney or raita, too. The oil is a well-known hair rejuvenator.

Eucalyptus: Put some leaves in hot water to feel refreshed. It is especially good when one has an attack of cold.

Guava: Its paste relives pimples. Make a decoction with its leaves, and add to bath water, to get rid of body odour.

Hibiscus: Apply the leaf paste on your scalp and leave it on for a few minutes. It offers relief from dandruff and adds to the hair’s bounce.

Lettuce: Chew on some fresh leaves to reduce acidity, prevent halitosis (bad breath) and erosion of tooth enamel.

Mint: You can infuse mint with your tea; it is a good remedy for nausea, cold and indigestion. Gargling a solution of mint with a pinch of salt relieves hoarseness of voice.
nMethi: A paste of fresh leaves, when applied on scalp is good remedy for dandruff. For recurring mouth ulcers, gargling with a leaf decoction is a good remedy.

Mango: Its leaves soothe bleeding gums and aching teeth. A decoction of tender leaves, gargled often gives relief from hoarseness and loss of voice. The sap from the stalks help heal fissures in the heels.
