Jain Group under scanner for flouting norms

Jain Group of Institutions is under scanner for not following regulations pertaining to SC/ST reservations.

Bangalore University recently issued a show-cause notice to the institution, based on a complaint forwarded by the State government. “The State government received a complaint that the college was not following the reservation roster. We were asked to look into the matter,” said BU V-C Prof B Thimme Gowda on Friday.

As per norms, the college is supposed to reserve 18 per cent of the seats for SC/ST students. Replying to the show-cause notice, the college has stated that they were not allotting the exact percentage of seats only because there was no demand for all those seats under the quota. They have assured to follow the roster system in the admissions for the academic year 2015-16, the VC said. In the university Syndicate meeting on Friday, it was also approved to construct a ladies’ hostel for  students from North-Eastern states.
