The raining trends
Monsoon is here and it’s time to get used to the downpour and puddles. While the rainy season calls for a change in wardrobe, the fashionistas in the City are ready to shine even in the rains.

There is nothing more unpleasant than stepping out in the rain and getting soaked up for the rest of the day. So, it is time to get all the classic apparels out as monsoon is all about tees, shorts, skirts and slip ons.

It was subtle and pastel shades that adorned the monsoon look sometime back. But all this is changing as the monsoon has become synonymous with bright and flashy colours. “The monsoon in Bengaluru is coupled with a chilly breeze and a jacket is a must during the season. A stylish and well-fitted monsoon jacket will perfectly work its magic as it’s both smart and warm. One can team this with a bright scarf that adds style while helping you keep warm. While I like the classic black jacket, I prefer to go bright with a colourful umbrella that definitely adds a bold look to the gloomy season,” says Namratha Prakash, a professional.

A sombre day of monsoon can be made cheerful with modish apparels paired with funky flip-flops that come in a variety of colours and prints. A heavy rainy day also calls for a pair of boots that can take over the puddles easily. “With rains and open flow of dirty water, I prefer to keep my feet covered and doing it with a touch of fashion is a plus point. Well-fitted and waterproof boots are perfect for this weather,” says Apoorva Gowda, a professional.

Soumya Jampana, adds saying, “Monsoon calls for comfortable dressing as the weather can be uncomfortable to many. I prefer to dress warm and make sure to carry a bag — tote or sling — to fit in all the necessary accessories including an umbrella.”

Ashwini KN, founder and blogger of ‘That elegant chic’ says, “Monsoon is not just about waterproof make-up and light-weight fabrics. It also calls for comfort shorts, culottes and skirts paired with flat footwear. A clear see- through raincoat works best as it adds style and elegance, along with a colourful umbrella. To stay trendy one can even opt for a water-proof mobile case.”

The fashionable men too have a lot of options to look bright and stylish, as Prashanth, blogger of ‘adamsapplelist’ says, “I do not like to compromise on my style. The weather is quite gloomy, therefore I like wearing bright colours. Ankle-length trousers with a polo neck T-shirt and a fedora are just right for the season. I carry my jacket or blazer to protect myself from the unpredictable chilly breeze along with a bag to stuff it all in.”

Neha Cecilia Menezes, a professional, likes to wear bright-coloured knee-length skirts. She says, “These are better alternatives to serve the wet weather. Long skirts and denims during the monsoon lead to wet ankles and feet that become irksome.” Besides wearing short clothes during the season, one also has to make sure to not wear see-through fabrics as they make you look messier.
