Heavy rains pound Sullia Taluk causing deluge

Uprooting of trees caused extensive damage in Sullia  in the last few days. The continuous rain  inundated low-lying areas. 

Owing to heavy rain coupled with gusty wind, electric poles have been damaged at Ishwaramoole in Mandekolu. Arecanut and rubber plants have been damaged at Peraje. A few houses have also been damaged.

Hundreds of rubber trees were uprooted at Sampaje. Two coconut trees fell on a house at  Koinadu Chadavu and damaged the house of Muthuswamy. A tree also fell on a drinking water tank at Koinadu. The movement of vehicles were disrupted following the uprooting of a huge tree at Koinadu and Baithadka.

This disrupted the movement of vehicles on Mani-Mysuru road. As a result, the vehicles had to ply via Sonangeri-Jalsoor route.  A cow was killed and two suffered injuries when a huge tree fell on cow shed belonging to Monappa Gowda, at Arambooru.
