'Ecstasy' drug worth Rs 15 lakh seized from two men

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) seized 100 grams of MDMA (Methylene Dioxymethamphetamine), an illegal drug widely known as “ecstasy”, by arresting two men in Tavarekere on Wednesday. The haul of drugs is valued at Rs 15 lakh.

The CCB said that Ramsmon, 27 and Ajnas, 23, both from Kerala, were trying to sell the drug when it arrested them following a tip-off. The suspects are said to have told the police that a man named Mohammad Ali from Mumbai had supplied them the drugs.

The duo would make half-gram packets of the drug and sell it for Rs 10,000-15,000 apiece. The suspects would mainly target young men hailing from different states and who stay away from their homes.

They would also approach college students and sell them the drug at a higher price, the CCB added. The CCB further said that it was trying to bust the network of drug peddlers.

A case has been registered against the two men at the Madiwala police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
