Aashada Friday puja at Ch'hill from July 17

DC moots changes in temporary 'prasada' counters

Ashada Shukravara (Friday) puja mahotsava at the temple of Goddess Chamundeshwari will begin from July 17. The temple will be opened from 4 am till late night hours during the period.

Presiding over a preliminary meeting, held in this regard at Dasoha Bhavan at the hill shrine on Friday, Deputy Commissioner C Shikha said, the puja will be held on four Fridays — July 17, 24 and 31 and August 7. The vardhanti (birthday) of the presiding deity is scheduled for August 5.

Taking cognisance of the opinion of various department officials, the DC sought coordination among the departments, with the biggest religious event of the year, attracting huge footfall, including devotees and tourists, from neighbouring districts and States.

Unlike previous years, ‘prasada’ will be distributed at the new parking lot developed adjacent to the bus stand. This follows observations made by the police authorities, taking objection to the vacant area in front of parks one and two off the road, where devotees were voluntarily distributing prasada earlier.

According to the police authorities, if temporary counters are opened in front of the parks, the rush of devotees may affect the smooth flow of traffic, the DC said.

To ensure quality works, albeit temporary on the electricity front, Shika instructed the engineers from Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (Cesc) to certify power installations like poles and lights, by an electricity inspector.

Besides, it was suggested to erect an elevated platform for mike announcer/s. It will be beneficial in case of missing persons, who can be produced on the platform and can be easily seen by their relatives, if any.

The DC brought a proposal by the Police department to the notice of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner S Palaiah. The police authorities want to develop a temporary parking lot only for four-wheelers at the park belonging to MUDA on Lalith Mahal Palace road.

MLA G T Devegowda said, the Health and Family Welfare department should station three ambulances against two.

Arrangements related to temporary toilets, drinking water facilities and ticket counters were discussed during the meeting.
