The massive farmers’ convention organised by the Janata Dal (Secular) here on Monday has adopted 10 resolutions, including the demand for settling the sugar cane growers dues from the State exchequer.

The meeting also served a deadline of one month to implement the demands, failing which the party will launch an agitation on August 9 demanding the ouster of the government for its anti-farmer policies.

JD(S) leader Y S V Datta, who read out the resolution, urged the government to make an announcement on the floor of the House of its decision to settle the dues from its exchequer. He also wanted popular schemes dropped and new schemes for providing economic stability to farmers, which in turn ensured food security.

Waiver of interest of farm loans on various crops, fixation of remunerative prices for crops, including paddy, stalling all measures taken for recovery of loans advanced to farmers and launching of schemes for smooth re-payment of loans, measures to strengthen Agriculture Price Commission, comprehensive policies that upholds the rights of the farmers, early implementation of Kalasa Banduri project, measures to address the problems faced by areca nut, coconut and coffee growers are among the other resolutions adopted during the convention.
