<p>A 30-year-old man attempted suicide by jumping in front of a train at Rajiv Chowk Metro station, disrupting services during the evening rush hour on Tuesday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The incident took place at 5.45 pm on platform number two of the station at Noida City Centre/Vaishali to Dwarka line. "He was run over by a train after he jumped on the track," said a police officer. <br /><br />Though the emergency brakes of the train were applied, the man suffered serious injuries. He was pulled out of the tracks by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel posted at the station and taken to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.<br /><br />The Metro services were affected for nearly half an hour causing bunching of trains on the Blue Line. <br /><br />Scores of passengers were stranded on the stations across the corridor. “I waited there for around half an hour and then seeing no train approaching the station, I took the exit,” said Mohit Aggarwal, who works with a private bank in Connaught Place.<br /><br />Commuters complained that the Metro operations were completely stalled on the corridor after the incident. Many decided to take the road back home, or to their workplace. <br /><br />“I remained stranded for over 20 minutes before deboarding. I saw other commuters coming out of the Metro minutes later,” said Manoj, who waited for a train at Barakhambha Metro station.<br /><br />But Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that the services were restored in 10 to 15 minutes<br />Some commuters found it difficult to even get an autorickshaw. “They were overcharging. I couldn’t find an auto for some time,” said Rakesh Gupta who looked for an autorickshaw at Mandi House. <br /><br />Even passengers on the Yellow Line faced problems due to the rush on the platforms. “There was a sea of people on the corridor at Rajiv Chowk. I had to let go of three trains to get on a Metro,” said Sunita Jain, a private firm employee. <br /><br />Recently, there was a technical snag on the Blue line which caused people to come on the tracks at Laxmi Nagar station. The Blue line is the busiest corridor shuttling nearly 10 lakh commuters every day.<br /></p>
